A key activity will also be the shaping of attitudes of openness and tolerance in the academic and social environment of the university.
One of the main objectives of the project is to set up an information and advice centre within the structures of the Centre for International Affairs called Welcome Point to provide comprehensive services to academic staff from abroad, to help them organise their stay and support them in day-to-day matters. Those in need of such support will be able to use a newly created website with a communicator to support the process of handling foreign staff.
In order to ensure the highest possible level of service and preparation of the administrative staff, training was organised for AGH UST administrative staff in procedures related to the reception of foreign guests in Poland (visas and legalisation of stay), as well as in the area of communication, intercultural differences and anti-discrimination attitudes. In addition, those dealing with foreign guests in their daily work participated in an English language course.
The concluding and crowning event of the entire project at AGH UST is the hybrid international conference
“The Impact of Internationalization on the Openness and Tolerance of the University Environment”. During the conference, participants will be able to discuss progress in increasing the level and quality of internationalisation of higher education institutions and exchange their own experiences regarding these topics.
Conference
The aim of the conference is to promote awareness of the 'Welcome to Poland’ programme implemented by the AGH UST Centre for International Affairs and to promote openness and tolerance.
In today’s globalised world, openness to the world is one of the values we believe in. Contacts with visitors from abroad, promoting the exchange of ideas, experiences and knowledge, have a fundamental impact on our lives. By fostering tolerance for diversity, we contribute to the development of our universities. By improving understanding and tolerance towards different cultures, we contribute to the development of our university.
The conference is funded by the „Welcome to Poland” programme of the National Agency for Academic Exchange. The project aims to raise the level of internationalisation, with an emphasis on so-called 'internationalisation at home’, by developing the interpersonal, cultural, linguistic and professional skills of teams and individuals who deal with foreign staff on a daily basis.
The event will be attended by teaching and administrative staff, students and PhD students from AGH UST, and representatives of foreign universities from a number of partner countries.
The conference will be a hybrid event (both on-site and streaming online).
Language: English with simultaneous interpreting into Polish.
